Weekly Update 19th-25th

We done a lot this week, much around the subject of audio. It was a fun topic to learn and experiment with due to the given freedom over the levels of development included within it. We started learning about Foley sounds and how people make certain sounds from everyday natural things. For example, rain could be either bacon sizzling or rice being shaken. Any one of these can be made just by using objects around us. We as a class we’re set to find 10 sounds around the college without disturbing other classes. We all scoped the entire area. Some collected more than 10 such as I and pick out the best, whereas others kept it in that range. I also messed around a bit more on flowlab looking around at other games on the site to see what was at the top. This gave me some insight on how I could possibly make a demo level/level more enjoyable than just some boring walk about coin picker. Some other cool things were that when messing around with audio on some sites I have already given a l...

I started off the week by going into some character design bits and bobs. I started by going on about how my character would be part of the mafia as a teen boy. I used a website then to incorporate this idea. Using CharacterCreator.org Then on Tuesday, I started to then go off on about concept art and how to use some websites to help finalize the idea. first one where I took screenshots was HeroForge.com. The last bit I did was an analysis of existing concept art, this one took a lot of time to make. We also took note of popular concept artists, I took note of Ryan Church.

8th-14th January Weekly Update

At the start of the week, we were told to complete a few tutorials to help gain experience using Photopea. The first video I looked at was wrapping a logo onto a coffee mug. I chose Dr. Pepper logo and searched on google images to look for a simple coffee cup. The end result was much better than I thought it would turn out. I love the way the wrap adds the shadows to the logo making it look like an actual cup. I had to warp the logo to make it look like it was actually going off to the sides by bending the corners up and stretch the image a slight bit. Right after the cup was a cartoon type filter, this one was the most challenging out of them all. I chose to filter the live action 'Witcher' TV series. Before: There was a lot to do and to be honest, I've forgotten most of the step already. It took a lot of filtering and recoloring. The layers exceeded over 10 really quickly within the span of only 3 minutes. After: The next video I looked at was creating a 'fire' e...

1-7th December Weekly Bog Post

This is a weekly update. At the start of the week I took a picture of the outside of my house because I really liked the look of it. The fact that it was icy with completely dry patches where cars where overnight, seems really cool and gives me vibes like as a game progresses, the map around starts to change as well. Love that in certain games, you get objects in houses that are animated to move around which I really like about Graphic Designers and how they build and animated loads of stuff in games to then have that game to be really detailed but has a lot of space. The concept of tiny details being added is very cool. I really like minute details in games as it adds to that sense of hardship and dedication it must have taken to make something so small but in large quantities. I shows much perseverance and I absolutely love it.  ___________________________________________________________________________________ On monday we started doing Photoshop. We started by collecting animal...

I have done many things this week, I have completed my second assignment by creating an idea for a digital product, I chose to do energy drinks being sold online. I wrote about other brands and how they advertise to their intended target audience, and the brands I wrote about where 'PRIME' and 'Monster Energy'. I talked about how Monster advertises with game companies like Activision using the Call Of Duty game franchise. The amount of people online playing on the Call Of Duty franchise exceeds 20 million maybe more, which is mind blowing in my eye. I then talked about how PRIME advertises to its target audience and how their influence across social media helped largely to increase its popularity. The fact that two video makers became such an popular and successful brands gives me hope for future generations, it shows that you don't need to be extremely intelligent to become successful in life. I also talked about how they use their influence to bond relationships w...

25th November Blog - Dante

While I was at home, I looked out my room and this gave me some creepy vibes when just looking down. This reminds me of abandoned houses in horror games what leave you at a hall  way waiting to be jump scared. It interested me on how any day to day image could turn into a horror show. I definitely like the atmosphere it created with the light being from where the camera is. It reminds me of fog, in the way that where you stand in the fog you can see where you stand but you cannot see up ahead giving that unknown element. In horror games like 'Slender-Man' it does the same feature where you can see up to a certain degree and that narrows the first person perspective giving that tension builder. Another picture I took was one of the outside when the sun was slowly setting the scene for people to get tired and sleep. It was nice view to see and a good time to capture it. I honestly liked the colour scheme the sun-setting gives off. Going from a nice bright sky to a dark, misty l...

So far i have started an assignment Unit 3&4 - Understanding an Audience. i am at the moment focusing on 1.2 as i have done the research needed to think about how the two digital products advertise to their target audience. I chose Spotify and Canva as they are two very different products but they advertise very similarly. I explained what Canva is and how it's a products for designers trying to seek out easy but easy to professionalize their design. I wrote about how Spotify is a online music streaming service that provides recommendations for new songs through lots of use. It was really easy as the internet was there for me to do some secondary research to find out how Canva advertises and what Spotify does to keep its good reputation across the internet. I wrote about both their income and how they quickly rose to fame. I wrote about who their target audience is and how they advertise to their needs. Both target a variety but stay in a category. Spotify targets people who l...

Level 2 Recap: List of what I have done so far.

Recap: Dave Moth Poster: I have used Canva to make multiple posters of moths saying "beware" due to a joke that goes around class. it was used to get used the website Canva for the first day. It was made to know what utilities it has to offer when we get the chance to use it again. Moodboards: It is an arrangement of images or bits of text intended to show a project in a style or different concept. We had created a moodboard to get a better view on how to make one and what to put in it. We were assigned to make a moodboard about a character we had thought of, and it was a fairly simple task once I knew how to continue on. I had come up with 2 separate ideas when I was in class and the second one was ideally my favourite of them all due to the simplicity and how it turned out. This one was about a guy running from gangsters and trying to escape but the boss will not let him unless he defeats him. This along came with a storyboard which took very little time to complete but wa...
