Run 3: Retro Game Review
Run is a flash game created by Player 03. The 'Run' franchise has 3 games in total and 'Run 3' being the most successful in the series.
Run 3, also known as simply 'Run' has 2 modes:
Explore, where the player had to find and map out over last one of the level sets. There are currently 309 levels that are accessible from the 'explore' mode across 21 level sets. The entirety of the plot takes place in this mode alone. (mostly)
Infinite, this version has you playing through a randomized selection of 325 pre-built levels. And with every meter you travel, it is kept track of and displayed at the top left of the screen. The obvious goal is to get as far as you can without failing a level. With the highest distances saved on a leaderboard that is viewable in the main menu of the game.
There are items called 'Power Cells', they are scattered throughout every level in the 'infinite' mode. Their frequency and value increases alongside your distance travelled. Achievements are exclusive to this mode and can be redone for these 'Power Cells'.
It has many different types of tiles within the game with many different features that makes the game a bit harder as you progress:
- Crumbling: This is an unstable tile that will begin to fall when too much weigh is applied to its surface.
- Ice: This is a cold tile that increases the players maximum speed at a decrease to strafing ability. Basically meaning that your movement is not as rigid and has more flow to it which can become very unstable depending on which situation you're in.
- Box: This is a 3D object that can change the gravity on all sides.
Conveyors:
- Fast: This increases the players speed up excrementally.
- Slow: This is a backwards driven conveyor that slows the player down massively.
- Right & Left: Conveyors that can direct the player either way and can influence the players movement.
All of these features in the game make it that much more fun when having a go at it. It is an honest to god good game that you can recommend anyone of any age. That set boundary of anyone can play makes it so much better as then the whole family and friends can play.
It would be an everyday game for me if not for others that just outrank it in every way.
